The Society Incorporated, Los Angeles Chapter Presented Community Production at Wilders Preparatory Academy
Inglewood, CA – May 31, 2025 – The Society Incorporated, Supporting the Arts – Los Angeles Chapter presented a community-based production of Ease on Down the Yellow Brick Road at Wilders Preparatory Academy, bringing performing arts programming directly to students and families in Inglewood.
Wilders Preparatory Academy, a STEM-focused charter school serving the Inglewood community since 2003, has maintained a strong commitment to academic achievement. However, like many schools, dedicated arts programming is not always built into the core curriculum. Through this partnership, The Society helped expand student exposure to music, theater, and dance through its Tri-Arts Program.
The introduction of the program was met with strong enthusiasm from families. During an early presentation, parents expressed appreciation for the opportunity to have their children participate in a structured arts experience offered at no cost. The response reflected the value of providing accessible, high-quality programming within the school community.
The Tri-Arts Program, created by Arthur L. Ross, combined elements from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked into a single production. Students participated in vocal performance, choreography, and acting, culminating in a fully staged presentation that complemented their academic experience and introduced elements of STEAM learning.
The production was supported by volunteer teaching artists, including professional performers with experience in stage, musical theater, and vocal performance. Their involvement provided students with direct mentorship and exposure to professional-level artistic instruction.
“This program created an opportunity for students to experience the performing arts in a structured and supportive environment,” said Arthur Ross, Production Director. “It allowed them to build confidence, develop new skills, and participate in a collaborative production from start to finish.”
Wilders Preparatory Academy has continued to serve as an important educational institution within the community, offering scholarship support and maintaining a focus on student achievement. The partnership with The Society enhanced the school’s programming by incorporating arts education alongside its academic curriculum.
